Portraits From The Last Few Months

Portraits From The Last Few Months

Here are portraits that I’ve done over the last few months.  Some with studio lighting, some natural or window light.  Some posed, some casual or candid.

I love this part of photography - People.

All about light and shadow.  Getting the right and most flattering balance.  Oft times, one is trying to duplicate in the studio the simple lighting of a cloudy day.  That nice soft light.

Some think that a bright sunny day is the best for portraits, or any photo for that matter.  Not necessarily true.  That strong, harsh sunlight doesn’t allow for any subtleties.  No gradients of light.

If you can get the perfect light then much less work in processing.

Wedding Photos in the Studio

Recently did some wedding portraits in the studio for some friends: Autumn and James.  Weddings are not generally my go to but I've done quite a few, mostly for friends/friends of family.  I do enjoy but on my terms.  You can see more of my wedding photos at the link below or from the dropdown menu above.  Honestly, though, I love the studio and am still learning.  I like the control and the simplicity.  And the intimacy.  These two have been together for 10 years.  This was a few days before their wedding.  She was pretty wound up getting things ready for the big day.  Getting her to relax wasn't really an option.  So, we went with that. I love the results.  I hope you enjoy as much as I do.
