I have a degree in photography and have read many books on the subject of photography have a real respect for authors how can explain their work this well. I hope all photograpers read this book who are invited to shoot weddings. On behalf of all the brides we owe thim a little time researching this very important field of chronicling memories.

4 out of 5 stars A Must-Have Guide for Wedding Photographers   September 12, 2008

I am sure that anyone interested in learning digital wedding photography will find this book very useful. Covering all aspects of digital wedding photography, so far, this is the most complete and most comprehensive book in digital wedding photography.

A must-have book if you are a wedding photographer

5 out of 5 stars Photographer   August 22, 2008

I received the book digital Wedding Photography in less than a week and I am so very impressed. Took me three days to finish reading, but so worth it. It had more information than I expected and I will refer back to it many times, because I won't be able to retain it all. Would like to meet the author in person some time and didn't know he lives in the same town as me. I want to learn so much more in the studio area. I need to get myself some better lenses and update my camera. I learned so many things from reading the book. Better than any other book I have bought, and I have bought many. Recommed it to beginners like me and for advanced folks too.
Thank you so much,
Jessie Savage Springfield Oregon

5 out of 5 stars Great book   August 21, 2008

This is a good book with lots of good info. Not intended for the already established Wedding photog, but good for someone starting out. Better than most of the new photography books out today that are all fluff but no real info.

5 out of 5 stars Learn to THINK Like a Wedding Photographer   August 12, 2008

I bought this book and read it while on vacation just before my first full season in wedding photography and it was absolutely the perfect fit for me.

It has some technical shooting information but that's not really what this book is about. This is about learning how to think. It's a perfect read for the person who already knows how to use his or her camera but wants to learn what it takes to shoot weddings. One of the strong points of this book is that it covers so many different types of situations that when you're faced with a challenge on the wedding day you've already thought through how you will handle it.

You might consider this a checklist that you can tick off before shooting a wedding. Some of the things you'll already know, some you should have known and others will seem like brilliant new revelations.

Here are some examples of things that you'll be glad you've read about if you haven't been thinking about them already:

DRESSING ROOM ETIQUETTE
-how do you act professionally and put people at ease right off the bat?
-how do you handle the nudity issue?

LIGHTING
-how can you be prepared to get the shot under any circumstances?
-when and how should you use your flash?
-what are the trade-offs and benefits to various artificial lighting methods?

GENERAL
-how do you plan your day and know where to be and when?
-couples aren't models and you don't have much time, so how do you get great, unique shots during your creative portrait session?
-how and when are you going to backup your images? (do you have a fire-proof safe?)

Those are just a few highlights off the top of my head.

The point is, if you read this book and really think about it you're going to feel confident and well prepared when you go out and actually start shooting. If you're looking for a something that tells you how to use your camera or something really advanced with very specific detail you might look elsewhere. If you want to learn how to get prepared and THINK like a wedding photographer then this will be perfect. For me it was a 6-star book.
