5 out of 5 stars Kodak Z712 IS is a Good Camera!   July 22, 2008

I'm pleasantly surprised with my new Kodak Z712 IS. It exceeds all of my expectations for a camera in the under $200 price range. By that I mean, it's easy to use, the pictures are consistently crisp and sharp and there is a great deal of assistance for the average user that is built in to the Camera's help screens.

The video works well and is only limited by the size of the customer-added SD card. The panorama feature is a great addition as are the numerous other modes available.

I also have an older Kodak DC 240 that is still working well after five years and the Z712 IS has the same feeling of solid reliabiity.

The only negative issuues are the lack of a bundled SD card and rechargeable battery and charger. These must be bought extra for an additional $60 or so. That's more of a marketing problem than anything negative about the camera, however.

Best of all, the total price was less than the estimate to repair the non-working flash on my Nikon 990 which is now DOA.

I recomment the Kodak Z712 IS to anyone who likes quiet, touble-free photography at a reasonable price.

5 out of 5 stars hot "little" camera   July 17, 2008
I just got it in the mail today so far i love it. The camera didn't come with a charger for the battery but amazon always has my back so I'll get it from here. The camera is small i like that plus the 12x zoom is off the wall. We will see how it works out i have the ext service plan and a case with a 2gb card. I hope to have fun this summer

5 out of 5 stars Excellent camera   July 17, 2008
This camera was an excellent upgrade from my 3 year old Kodak Z700. The 12 power optical zoom is awesome as is the image stabilization. Another great product from Kodak.

3 out of 5 stars Have to send back defective   July 12, 2008

I have used several Kodak Easyshare cameras over the years and know several people that have and love this camera. I do believe I received a defective camera and the seller has agreed to let me return it for a refund. I also do not think this reflects on the camera itself.

2 out of 5 stars a need to vent   July 9, 2008

Ok, I am officially venting about my camera! I will never by another Kodak Product just because of their customr service department. I've never had any problems with the mechanics of the camera but a small rubber door broke off that covered the usb port, I know it's not a necessity but I like things like new. I thought OK I'll just call and get another. Oh No. Not that easy, they politely told me it was under warranty but they could not sell me that small door, it would have to be replaced by a trained service technician. Whatever, it's held on with a small rubber ball that you stick in a hole and probably doesn't cost 1.00. They also said when I send it back that if they decide they can replace my camera, which I have taken every effort to keep in emaculate shape, with a refurbished one. A REFURBISHED ONE! Over a small rubber cover...Come to find out after much research today, Kodak keeps a tight reign on parts etc. so you can't get them from repair places without going through Kodak. Oh, they did offer me a deal in the end they said I could send them my camera and they would let me upgrade with a 15% off coupon! What!!! I just told them to forget it.
