Still new but no lens creep. September 19, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I replaced an 18-135 Nikon lens with this one and so far so good. I'd read all the reviews and expected at least some lens creep.....zero on mine, perhaps Nikon fixed that flaw or perhaps I got lucky. I can turn my D300 up or down and gently shake, lens stays where I put it. Picture quality is acceptable, a good lens for the price.
Great lens September 19, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Instead of buying a 55-200 VR and switching with the 18-55, I got this one, just for practical reasons. Is not very fast, so it can't do miracles if you have poor lighting, but I took some great outdoor daytime pictures. The VR works great, makes a big difference. It's a bit heavy and cumbersome, but beats hands down carrying two lenses and switching them.
Fantastic Upgrade September 9, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Great improvement over the kit lens that was included with my Nikon D80. There is no way that you will be unhappy with both the quality of your photographs and the smoothness of the the zoom and auto-focus. This could be the only lens you will ever need.
Excellent Wide Range Zoom Do It All Lens September 8, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is a great lens to keep on your camera for most of the day. It's wide zoom range, excellent optics and quality of build is amazing for the price. One Wish, that it was faster and available for the new FX format.
Where was I when this lens came out? September 2, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Well, Nikon lives up to its company reputation once again. My only regret about this lens is that I don't know why I did not know about this lens when it first came out. I must have been living in outer space somewhere :0/ I would have saved some good money on lenses I rarely need to pull out of the closet anymore. I am thrilled with this DXVR lens. I just grab my backpack with this lens on my trusty old D70 and off I go to shoot virtually anything, anywhere. I do a lot of motion photography so I particularly like the VR feature for both the subject and me! I am satisfied with the smoothness and quietness of this lens as well. Some people have complained but I think they are being trivial. I have a good friend (a pro photog.) who bought the Sigma version for this lens with his D80, boasting it was good enough for less money - for 2 months that is! Then he called and asked me if I wanted to buy his Sigma becasue he went and purchased the Nikon! It was my turn to say "I told you so". If you want the best pictures, you need to buy the best tools to get the job done right! My next purchase will be the D300 since the D200 is too hard to find new nowadays. Then I will have the best camera as well! To that end I say, "WELL DONE, NIKON" :0)
