It is very easy to understand the methods. Photographs are in good quality and easy to comprehend.
Incredible book! February 19, 2007 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I loved this book--as a professional artist I love the ideas and I find that they are inspiring me to add my own twist and even to head off in a new direction. I love the photos and the layout of the book, very visual and enticing. worth the money for sure!
Excellent photos-this book is Visual! December 19, 2006 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I love this book, and the other by the same author, Joaquim Chavarria. Both are organized very well and present step by step pictures that make it easy to see how to get through the project. People who like to dive right into something and not spend a lot of time reading, will really like this book. It's definitely made for visual people. Some of the techniques presented are very easy, some much more complicated. I've tried a couple already with great success. Overall, I feel that this book is a great buy for any potter, beginning or experienced.
EXCELLENT! November 13, 2006 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
Too many photos showing too many interesting possibilities! A very good book concerning clay decoration. Very inspiring.
provides minimal overview of few techniques July 31, 2006 5 out of 7 found this review helpful
Almost any other pottery book out there will give you more detail on the techniques of surface decoration offered here. Most of them will also provide you with more techniques and more inspiring photos to illustrate the techniques.
He does provide a recipe for Egyptian paste which I had not seen before, and seems quite good at transposing pre-planned graphic designs onto pots in a way that makes tham appear to be pencil crayoned on.
For any other technique, try a different book.
