1 out of 5 stars Problems with using a Mac with this, also chip   August 5, 2008
1 out of 4 found this review helpful

Warning - I bought this product after a great experience with the smaller frame but I have had two big problems. (1) - a product problem= It would not accept photo transfers from my Mac laptop as the mac laptop disconnected the USB connection saying it was drawing excessive power (I have never had this problem before and it happened twice) - note that there are quite a lot of posts on the smaller Phillips frame reporting extensive problems with macs both at the operating system, hardware and photosoftware level (2) - an instructions plus user problem it turns out it seemed not to take the memory chip used by either my Sony or HP digital cameras which are reasonably popular makes but the slot looks to a reasonably sensible consumer as if it is the right one (and the paper instructions are misleading) so I jammed the slot which lost me my chip and incapacitated the slot ! Be warned.
So I would be (very) wary if you are a Mac user or if you assume that a popular camera memory chip will work with this without very carefully checking. A disappointment considering how much I liked the smaller frame, which I loaded direct from camera.

1 out of 5 stars dissapointment   July 21, 2008

I spent a lot of time to organize my photos on the computer renaming them so they all are in proper time sequence. Guess what, the frame does not recognize the decimal order such that numbers 11 jumps ahad of number 2 like it was a binary code not a decimal number!
Another thing is that the frame cuts the top of the photos and displays two different size images for the same photo in its setup menu.

5 out of 5 stars picture frame, digital   July 20, 2008
I purchased this digital picture frame for my daughter's graduation party. I love it and so did our guests. I especially like the timer feature, I now have my frame running from 8 A.M. to 10 P.m. I would highly recommend this item to a friend.

5 out of 5 stars Perfect gift   July 2, 2008
I imported my twins photos to the frame and gave it to my mother-in-law on Mother's Day. She loved the gift.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent digital photo frame   June 24, 2008

This photo frame is an excellent one. It's design actually resembles a real photo unlike the majority of them that have a border that's 3" thick.

The features are very nice, with an easily removable face plate (magnetic), timers for auto-on and auto-off (3 of them), a cool group of transition effects between each photo (optional), and the ability to position it wide or tall as the format (it has a motion sensor that re-positions the images to match the orientation).

This is in fact a 9" model - I couldn't find it on Philips website, but it does exist. It's a nice size - almost perfectly matched to a normal photograph.

The only minor complaint is that the screen - though very nice quality - does not appear to look like a real photograph. I don't know if that was a faulty assumption to expect it to look just like a photo or not, but the LCD in this frame does not match a photo. It does have great colors, a bright picture (I like it on medium so it blends in with the room and looks more like a real photo), and a pretty wide viewing angle.

It's easy to drop pictures into it, but I recommend getting an SD card to put photos onto - it makes the process even easier.

A definite 5/5 when compared with the other digital photo frames I've seen.
