The zoom is so much better than our old camera, so I'm thrilled at how close this camera can bring distant images, but I am not as impressed with the image stabilization as we still get some blurry shots.

What I love best is the Image Stabilization which easily allows you to zoom in 12X (optical zoom) and shoot using no tripod or camera shake. It's also easy to bump up the ISO you are shooting at by selecting the "P" mode. It's a bit bulkier than some (more like a small SLR) but that makes it harder to accidently drop. The CRV3 batteries are expensive but W-Mart also sells a 4-pack of AA Energizer Lithiums for the same price. Use two at a time, cutting the cost in half. This is a great little camera and takes excellent pictures. It is 8.2mp. Use the fine compression setting and you should get fantastic pictures.

Very nice camera. Instructions are a little vague, but with a little searching and button pushing It can be figuered out. I have purchased a couple of lenses to go with it ( it does require the adaptor) and am looking forward to seeing how much more it will enhance my pictures. Will post a review on the lenses as soon as I put them to use.

I have owned a Kodak 6490 in past especially the "easy share" option. This Z812IS is easier to turn-on and off and is exactly a "point and shoot".
