Didn't work November 30, 2006 24 out of 31 found this review helpful
My husband purchased this digital picture frame for me. After receiving it, it worked the first few times. But then quit working all together. I had to contact Philips, because it was after the 30 days. I had to pay for the shipping the unit back to Philips. Philips then sent me back another unit, that didn't work! I have to again pay the shipping back to Philips. I'm sure that the third unit I receive won't work either. I am so mad that we have spent all this money on soemthing that doesn't even work! The few tiems that the first unit worked the picture was great and we were considering buying several for gifts. I wouldn't reccomend this to anyone. The lack of customer service is so frustrating. I used this unit a few times in September and it's now almost December. We bought this to show off pictures from a vacation without having to drag along the laptop. I've been having to use my lap top this whole time. I don't foresee this problem being resloved so now we're out a few hundred dollars.
Buy it- Do not hesitate November 30, 2006 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I have other frames and they are a convenient way to see my photos but I have never been pleased with the screen quality vs print quality. An 8 megapixel camera quality is lost on the lesser screens. Enter this philips. It is like night and day. I am running it side by side on the same slide show and it looks like a 3 megapixel camera vs an 8 megapixel. Oh yeah and it will operate off of the charger so viewers with eysite limitiations can pick it up and view it in their hands just like a photo. Hope this helps.
Note three additional colored frames are just accent frames November 30, 2006 16 out of 17 found this review helpful
On reading the description of this product, saying "with 3 additional colored frames" my impression was that the colored frames would hide the acrylic frame i.e. go completely over it, but they actually just cover what you see in the picture as white/metal looking. I didn't even try out the frame because I will be returning this one for either the milk frame or the metal one but I look forward to playing with it! Just wanted others to be aware!
Nice Idea for a Holiday Gift November 29, 2006 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
I've been using the Philips digital picture frame for several months. My experience has been so positive that I am giving two of them as Christmas presents, one to each of my daughters-in-law. Contrary to earlier reviews, the frame is not limited to 10-20 images if you use only the integrated memory. If you resize the images you want to load to 720X480 pixels (or thereabouts) using, for example, Photoshop Elements, you can get as many as 70-90 images on the device. On the other hand, the criticisms of the users guide are spot on. That shortcoming is why I limited my rating to four stars. Not everyone who buys a product like this is capable of noodling their way through the software interface.
Beautiful display, Not-so-good documentation November 21, 2006 43 out of 46 found this review helpful
The display quality is stunning--bright and clear. Couldn't be happier with that aspect of it.
The documentation leaves much to be desired. It's clearly been translated into English by a non-native speaker (how hard would it be for Philips to find an editor who could correct: "This application will start automatically and reside at taskbar as tray icon when each time user login into his/her account"?) It is confusing on issues such as whether the software automatically resizes the images before transferring them. If it does, how come I can't fit more than 15 images when the documentation says 50+ should fit in the internal memory? Luckily, this will be a short-lived problem for me, because I have a 2GB SD card on its way. Anyone intending to use this frame for more than 10 photos should factor in the price of extra memory too (I paid $40 for 2GB).
