Nice camera... May 15, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I researched long and hard for a new camera after the disappointment with my Samsung NV3. It had the worst "orbs" imaginable and never took a decent shot at night. I am very pleased with my new Nikon. It is light weight, compact and easy to use. I love the large LCD screen. This is my first Nikon camera, and I have owned a Canon and a Samsung, and personally this model is my favorite so far. Obviously it is not going to take the most fantastic photo's as let's say a $500 camera would, but for the money and style, this camera cannot be beat.
Nice Point and Shoot May 14, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this camera for my wife as a graduation present. I normally shoot with a Nikon D70 and I really prefer to look through a lens to frame my shot then with my arms extended looking at a LCD display. However this has a BIG 3 inch display and optical image stabilization, which is much better then electronic. I takes really good photos, and the different scene modes are really good for different photo opportunities.
Perfectly good camera for the average user! May 14, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is a great camera for 99% of us who want to point and shoot. It takes great pictures whatever time of the day, or conditions, and you don't have to do much, they always come out great. Off course, if you want to use it's configuration settings, you can get "exceptional" picutres, but I have to say I'm pretty lazy to do that. I've had a 10.1mp sony cybershot before, and it had so many different options, that unless you configured it just right for your settings, the pictures came out horrible... with the nikkon, you just point and shoot!
The 3" screen is great, it makes a BIG difference from the 2.5" (it doesn't sound like much, but trust me, it is). And don't get impressed by the low price - this camera outperforms sonys, kodaks etc that are twice its price.
Menus are very simple to use. You can't go wrong with this one.
Nikon S51 May 14, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I ordered this camera for my daughter who has 2 other Nikons. She wanted a smaller camera that the lens didn't come outward from the camera. I paid $169.99 with Amazon and got free shipping. When the camera arrived we charged he battery and inserted the sandisc card. My daughter took about 3 pictures and off to Universal Studies for Grad Bash she went. Upon arriving there she took a few more pictures then the camera had a "lens error" and she couldn't take anymore pics. I called and emailed Photoword and had to purchase another camera (same price), so it would arrive in time for the prom that Sat. The new one came in in 3 days and it appears to be working OK. What I dont like about this camera is the lag time between photos. You can never get a quick shot because it takes too long. I tried changing the ISO speed-to no avail. Still slow. But, the camera does have the 3" screen and it does take good pics-if you don't mind the time it uses in between shots-this is a good little point and shoot. Price is reasonable too.

Ok camera April 30, 2008 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
I just got this camera today. I took alot of pictures from it and the pictures showed up to be pretty good better than my friend's canon. The color from this camera is actually alot better than Canon. I also owned Nikon D80.I love my D80 but S51 seems very flimsy. It can break easily. I don't like the light and cheap feeling when holding it. It's not going to be a durable camera. It's stylish but it can fall easiy. I think this thing is going back tomorrow. I also just bought Canon SD750. I betrayed Nikon now. I'm so dissapponit how Nion built there poin and shoot camera, so cheaply built. BUt the DSLR from NIkon is good though.
conclusion: Good pictures but Bad material
