The Best Camera with a Good Value!! January 13, 2008 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I have owned different brands camera like Cannon, Sony, Kodax and Pentax. This Nikon S51 so far is the best. Very clear images even if you download them in the computer. I rarely have any blurred pictures even if I am not using any tripod and my hands are little bit shaking when I take pictures. A good size screen 3" LCD and it is large enough when I view my pictures. This camera is good when I take outdoor and indoor pictures. However, when I go out at night and take pictures outside the street, unless the object is very close by, otherwise, I do not see any objects in my pictures. It is a very good value for a Nikon, 3" LCD camera.
gift for sis January 12, 2008 0 out of 10 found this review helpful
My sister wanted a camera and knew I only bought decent ones, this was a nice surprise for her for Christmas. Small enough to take anywhere and its a Nikon.
Not a bad camera but missing ease of use January 9, 2008 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
The biggest plus is the big LCD screen. The biggest minus is that there is no easy way to select presets such as landscape mode, macro, etc..
Since I need to quickly go from preset to preset, this camera is better as a back up portable. Get a Nikon DSLR for a real camera.
1 YEAR UPDATE: * Still works flawlessly * I prefer my Nikon Digital SLR * Screen needs to be bigger. I thought it was fine a year ago, but now I want it bigger. * Pictures quality is great given the size of the camera * It is a great camera for quick portraits and everyday use, but get a Nikon Digital SLR for professional/artistic type photography * It is hard to change presets and controls. I prefer cameras with dials to change from auto, portrait, macro, landscape, etc.
great camera January 9, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
If you like thin cameras that are very user friendly and durable, this is the camera for you. I bought this camera so I can put it in my pocket comfortably. I also needed a camera that had an internal zoom so it would be less fragile and not extend in my pocket. I love the large screen so a group can view and the easy roll navigator to view pics quickly. The glossy red finish is definitely an eye catcher. I have dropped this camera before and it only left small cosmetic scratches. I liked this camera so much that this is the second one I have bought. My first (a coolpix s50) went into a swimming pool. Even after the pool, it still powered up and allowed me to retrieve the saved pics. Nikon makes a good product and I would recommend to anyone.
Great little camera for those unexpected moments January 8, 2008 Don't expect it to be everything and know it's limitations. It can produce fantastic results.
