1 out of 5 stars too much hype!   December 16, 2007

I just bought this camera 1 week ago. I did a lot of reading reviews, since that's all I could do. they dont cary this camera in stores that you can check it out. I biught it to my sorprise, too much hype for nothing! I have a Canon S410 4mega pixels and it have the same features and the same quality pics! I am a Marine so I take pics of cool stuff on base and the camera its just a waste of money. If you want to have a nice looking camera this is the camera for you. I would sudgess to you to buy a S410 for 100 bucks insted of the 950

5 out of 5 stars I like!   December 15, 2007

I love this camera.
I am still exploring all the features this thing has, and may never get to fully utilize them all. The face detection feature is...fantastic. The Auto image stabalization...great. The video capture, with sound I might add, seems pretty good so far too. It even works well in low light.
The screen doesn't wash out at all as far as I can tell, even in direct sunlight.
All together this camera makes a great package that fits in your pocket just as well as most modern cell phones.
Also, this camera looks so good that you just want to show it to everybody...but not let them touch!
If there is a down side, it is that the compact camera range right now has limited optical zoom. Maybe the next generation of Compacts will have 10X or more optical zooms.......can't wait!!

5 out of 5 stars This is a great camera.   December 11, 2007
I just purchased this camera and have taken some great photos. The 12MP really makes a difference, it's amazing how clear the pictures are. The camera does well in the dark as well, you just have to find the right setting. So for people complaining that this doesn't work in the dark, don't listen, mine works perfectly both in the dark and light. It also has some features that other cameras don't have, such as red eye reduction, and pictures in the dark come out really bright also due to an enhancing feature. I owned a sony before and I can say with certainty that this camera convinced me of the canon superiority. Also, I noticed a lot of people complained (rightly so) about the grainy pictures that other canon SD models take, well this one doesn't do that, the pictures are VERY clear. The only downside is that it does not have a battery indicator (well, it does, but it only tells you either when it's full or completely empty). I was hesitant to buy this since it just came out, but I have been extremely impressed with the features and improvements over earlier (SD800, SD870) Canon models that I tried in the store. Overall, I would say that this is a very good camera, you won't regret buying it.

5 out of 5 stars Great Camera!   December 8, 2007

This is a great camera. Lots of options and easy to use. The battery lasts a long time before needing charged and charges in just a couple of hours. I went on a 5 day trip and only needed to charge it one time. The only thing that I've had any kind of issue with is the battery/card cover door. It is located on the bottom of the camera and seems to be easily dislodged. It hasn't caused any problems though because it is on a hinge.

5 out of 5 stars The best compact digital camera I've used   December 7, 2007

ASIN Canon SD950IS digital elph.
This is simply the best compact digital camera I've used. After having an Olympus digital camera and 2 canon SLR's (Digital) and having gotten tired of the bulk and weight, this camera really fillls the bill. It is compact as they come, fits in my shirt pocket and takes exquisite photos. I am totally pleased with it. It is also appealing to handle and use. I couldn't be happier with my choice and as always, Amazon made purchase and delivery a breeze. I like the large LED screen and have stopped using the viewfinder all toghther. This is my one gripe is that the range finder and LED display show totally different size images and it is hard to know which one is going to record. I thoroughly recommend the camera inspite of its cost for a compact digital.
