We love it. ItIs great for dance recitals, all those moments you want to capture with your kids, animals. friends, etc., and so easy to use. We have had no problems using with our Mac. Bought 3 of them for gifts. Nice for hunters, grandparents-so easy! Amazon has the most amazing customer service.

4 out of 5 stars Value Is in the Ease of Use   December 18, 2007

I purchased this video camera for my 13-year-old daughter's birthday. We literally opened up the box, inserted the batteries, and started using it within seconds. I love the tiny size; we take it everywhere because it fits in any purse or pocket. The sound and picture quality are very good for the price. I personally had no trouble inserting it into the portal on my Mac; I didn't have to purchase anything extra for it, but I did have to turn the Mac around and turn the Flip upside to insert it. It took a few tries but it did work. The software is easy to follow and you can save the videos and keep using the camera over and over again. I would definitely recommend getting the 60 minutes because it's so easy to use that you will want to video everything. This is a perfect first camera for an older child or it would be perfect for senior citizens who have trouble seeing small buttons or working complicated camcorders that are more sophisticated. I love that it takes regular batteries and you don't have to have rechargers and lots of gear. I use it so much more than my more expensive camera because it is so portable. My daughter loves it because you can upload videos right to YouTube and you can play the videos easily on TV--and they look great on TV, I might add.

Main drawbacks are the instruction book--it was so lacking that I used the Amazon reviews rather than the booklet for troubleshooting and usage. The instructions are worthless. Also, I found out through Amazon reviews that if you have a Mac, you cannot use the "Make a video" feature, which even on the PC only allows you to link your short films together, not to edit them. You cannot do anything nifty like fades and changing colors or any special features. Please, Flip company--add these to upgrades! Also, the zoom is not that great; you can only zoom in a little bit, so if you are sitting in the back of an auditorium and want to film a child's concert, for example, you are not going to get close up; it's just not that kind of camera. Still, for the money, it's a good deal.

Check closely on the descriptions of differences between the ultra and regular models. I probably should not have been swayed by the better looks of the ultra; I suspect that is the only difference, and that I could could have saved myself $30 bucks.

This thing is the "coolest". Had to give it to my wife early because of weekend vacation to see Christmas lights in NYC. She hates to read instructions so I reviewed for 5 minutes, inserted batteries, bingo! We were shooting family videos in NYC instantly. Thanks!

5 out of 5 stars Daughter LOVES the Flip!   December 18, 2007

Got this for my daughter for her birthday. She is 20 and drops this camera in her purse and uses it all the time. It is a great value for the money-the audio is surprisingly good and we have filmed at night in the car even and you can see it very good. We were pleasantly surprised since there is no light. Anyway, it is so convenient for those times you don't want to have to get the video camera out make sure it is charged, and flip out the screen. This is very simple-just point, push a button and you are videoing in just seconds! Everyone she uses it around wants one too!
