 Junk-did they ever test it before releasing it? December 31, 2007

I bought this to capture memories from a week long vacation.
It worked fine when I was shooting the videos and playing them back on the device. I was even amazed by the videos I was getting in low light situations.
The trouble started when I tried to copy/play the videos on my Macbook(MAC OSX 10.4.1 with 2GB memory dual intel processor). The software either crashed/hung or gave an error message "An unexpected error occurred while trying to copy data".
Very few software products can crash a Mac, but flip video has achieved this feat. So I thought let me try this on a windows XP machine. Windows recognized it and I got a message "One time installation of Muvee mixer is in progress-1% complete". Unfortunately it remained there for about 4 hours, at which point I put it out of its misery by yanking it off the USB drive.
Then I was struck by another thought: why not bypass this "flip software" altogether and just do a copy from the USB drive? The copy started and then the very generic "Can not copy because of a IO error" appeared on the screen.
My videos are ruined and this junk of a product is going back to the retailer first thing tomorrow and I will try this instead:

I just got this for my birthday and it was so easy to use! I can't rate it the full 5 stars yet because I haven't tried to upload any of the videos yet but I'm guessing it'll be just as easy as making the videos. It's a perfect camera to document my new baby when she arrives in February. So easy anyone will be able to use it.

This thing is incredible! We bought it for our 6 year old son who has turned into quite the little photographer--and now--videographer. It is simple (intuitive) to use and the results have been impressive. Most surprising is the sound quality. The video is also quite impressive. I did have some problems with it before I upgraded the firmware, but once I did that it has been flawless. I would recommend this for anyone--including responsible 6 year olds.

We bought this as a gift for my pregnant sister for Christmas and i was sad to mail it! so santa brought one for me as well! we just love it. fits into even a small purse and is ready to film in a second. just flip it on and start shooting. the software included is excellent for sharing the videos with family and friends online via secure links in emails.
