I make movies/videos for the fun of it.. just random videos and Vegas Movie Studio 8 platinum is perfect for me. It has so many features! I used to use windows movie maker and I wanted more features. This product is everything and more than I wanted.

If your thinking about buying this, you won't be disapointed.

Used program to download Movies from my Sony Camera and Photo Stories I make using another program before I received the Vegas Movie Studio 8 Platinum Edition. So far it's good for what I wanted in making home DVD's.

I've tried all the Roxio products with terrible results and Adobe Premiere Elements and none can compare to Sony Vegas. This has all the features you need to create and produce an excellent product.

It's bug free as far as I can tell, (can't say that about Roxio) the customer support is excellent I had an issue with my sound card and they promptly helped me out.

All in all I'm very pleased with it.

2 out of 5 stars Good for DV; not so for HDV   January 28, 2008

Having read good things about this software package, I bought a copy for a relatively good price. The program looks sleek, and works well with standard DV. I was able create a number of non hi-def videos without much problems. I was eager to try out hi-def video as I own a Sony HDR-HC3. It turned out to be a very frustrating experience. I ran into hangs, and crashes with HDV that I did not experience with DV. Vegas Movie Studio always tries to build peaks for the videos that it imports, and that step took forever to finish. Sometimes it never finished; I had to kill the program after half a day of it never getting past some percentage of completion. Also, while the program builds peak, the user can not do much. I have used Pinnacle (up to version 10.5) and Adobe Premiere, and I have to say that when it comes to HDV, Vegas Movie Studio has turned out to be the buggiest product of all. I have run into crashes with Pinnacle during the editing and production phases, but at least I managed to find ways around the problems; not so with Vegas Movie Studio because at times the thing never even finished the building peaks step to allow me to edit the video. It's very ironic considering that the source videos came from a Sony camcorder.

Super-great product. I cant beleive the videos I can make. Its very user friendly. I didn't even read the instructions. The buttons are very self explanitory. A little practice and common sense is really all you need to create wonderful slideshows and videos. I used this program to create a highlight film of my high school basketball games. I downloaded the dvd games and edited from that. I was also able to add music (and edit music tracks). You can save your compilations to your hard drive or burn it to disc in a variety of formats. It never slows up. I have an old HP desktop (about 7 years old), Windows XP, and it works super. A very impressive program to say the least. You get more than you pay for, trust me. Good job Sony!
