3 out of 5 stars very good camera   June 13, 2008
love and dislike.this camera.almost everything works great but only one thing..when your in camera mode and theres alot of light in the background purple lines appear, but after the picture is taken go away.thats fine but when your in video mode the lines appear also,But dont go away in the finished video.Thats one problem i dislike ALOT....but other than that not bad for a point and shoot camera. just not a great video camera.hope i've been helpful

5 out of 5 stars I would buy this again   June 11, 2008
Take it from someone who isn't all that savvy when it comes to technology or photography when I say that this a great camera. The pictures come out great despite me not knowing much at all about ISO or pixels or macro. What I can say is that I got a 2 GB SD card so I can shoot video. I also think the battery holds the charge a long time. I used to have cameras whose batteries would crap out but this one hardly seems to need recharging. It's a good camera, get one.

5 out of 5 stars Compact and easy to take pictures   June 11, 2008
After buying a digital camera last year and not being happy with it (at all), I took the plunge again and did more research. This camera came up in a lot of different searches and articles about great small cameras that take good pictures. I wasn't looking for something with a ton of confusing features--just a normal camera that was easy to use. (Though I like to take a lot of pictures and appreciate good photography, I'm not a camera professional and I'm proud of it.)

We took the camera on vacation with us and it took awesome pictures both inside and outside. The video quality is also very good. The battery life is excellent and the battery charger is compact and easy to tote around on trips. I would recommend getting a larger memory card for it--they are so inexpensive nowadays that it's worth having the extra insurance that you won't run out of memory and have to delete pictures - especially on long trips or for memorable occasions!

This was my first Canon purchase (previously, I have always bought Olympus), and I'm very impressed. I plan to have this camera for many years.

5 out of 5 stars Canon Powershot SD1000   June 10, 2008
This is a great camera. I read reviews on both Amazon and CNET. I've had the camera about a month now and love it. I was hesitant to by a camera with a rechargeable battery but the battery life is great. I'm still running off the initial charge and take pictures almost daily. By no means am I technologically savvy but this camera is a great buy. Easy to use, understand, AND takes great pics.

5 out of 5 stars Best camera ever!   June 9, 2008

My dad (Richard) ordered this camera for my 13th birthday. I was going to get silver but when it went up to $300 and the black stayed $160 there wasn't really a choice. I love the black and it looks very nice. I have a 4GB card and it holds tons of video, as well as thousands of pictures. The battery has never run out. I charge it overnight and have hours and hours of battery time. My dad has a Sony cybershot and I thought this one wouldn't be as good because it was about $150 less. I was wrong! The video on this camera has sound, and zoom. The Sony has sound- no zoom. At first I thought this one didn't have sound and then it came to me... I had it on mute! A lot of people complained about no sound. I guess we were wrong. I take pictures on 12x zoom and they are very clear! I am amazed! The pictures are better then any I've ever seen from a digital and when people see my camera they are so surprised because it is tiny and slim. Pics are perfect, everything is. All shooting modes are great. Image stabilizer is not needed because they are always clear. Perfect camera! Don't spend twice as much on one that is ok, get one that is perfect! Buy this camera! You will not have any regrets!
