Sleek and stylish product, but very noticeable Barrel Distortion. February 16, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I normally prefer purchasing a Canon or Sony when I shop around for cameras. I bought this Casio primarily for gifting to a relative (a novice photographer), so I did not worry about reviews on barrel distortion that I came across in many forums. For the price I paid, I am happy with the product. The form factor is excellent and the 3X Optical Zoom is decent. The barrel distortion was plainly visible in many photos, which is the reason I believe this camera was phased out for the more expensive Z7x series. Other than the barrel distortion, I am quite happy about the product in itself.
Very compact, Good UI - but not the greatest pictures January 29, 2007 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this for someone else who really wanted something ultra compact, and with a big screen. The screen is definitely nice. The UI is simple - also an important factor. The startup is also fast.
This is not the camera to buy if you want great picture quality. The graininess on zoom in shows up always regardless of the settings and seems to be an artifact of the algorithms they use to compress the image. I have a Nikon Coolpix 5400, and have compared the images side by side. Even though you have more pixels on the Casio (and hence much larger files), the image is far better on the Nikon.
A Solid Buy! January 25, 2007 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Just bought this camera. In all honesty it is a solid buy for a 6 megapixel camera. Casio is a great manufacturer, and the design is amazing considering how thin it is. Love the fact that you can get it in black or silver. Other colors too? A solid performer, great features and a nice 2.5" screen in the back. Highly recommended.
Bad design January 21, 2007 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Camera has a fatal design flaw - the zoom lens assembly is fragile, locks up and malfunctions easily. If camera is out of warranty repair costs $119. I am on my second repair, when the zoom lens breaks the third time I'll be ready for a new camera from a different manuafacturer.
Great Product January 16, 2007 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I have read many good reviews on this camera which is the reason I bought it. I never had to pick up the manuel. It is very user friendly. Very easy to use. Takes fabulous pictures. The design is very stylish and functional. I had been looking at several cameras in this price range and the casio has lived up to it's many good reviews. Looking forward to more great products like this from Casio in the near future.
