2 out of 5 stars CAN'T USE WITH CANON S5 IS!   February 10, 2008
10 out of 16 found this review helpful

This product is tagged to be used with the Canon S5 IS...so I purchased it with the thought of saving my lens from wear and tear.
Upon receiving the filter (and the lens cap that I needed to buy to use with the filter), I found that it
A. Doesn't attach to the Canon S5 IS unless you have the optional adaptor
B. Needs a new lens cap since the camera's won't fit the filter
C. If you do use the optional adaptor and attach this filter, you get terrible pictures due to the odd light reflections.
I do not recommend this item if you intend to use it with the Canon S5 IS

3 out of 5 stars Not good under low light conditions   February 8, 2008

I never take this filter off when shooting, even indoors. If you do the same, you might want to re-think that approach under low light conditions, indoors when using high ISO. This filter produces ghostly purple orbs in the pics under such conditions.
I own a 50mm, 1.4 canon lens and an XT. Both brand new and have no defects or problems.
Other than the problem mentioned above, the filter performs well outdoors during the day and well-lit indoors.

4 out of 5 stars Great in the daytime   December 25, 2007

This product works fine during the day without glare. When there is glare or when taking photos at night, pinpoints of light will result in little purple blips elsewhere and ruin the photo. The product is not multicoated.

5 out of 5 stars Used on Powershot S5 IS   December 18, 2007

Get it. Cheap reliable protection for S5 lens. Use with lens adapter and 58 mm lens cap. No problems so far with picture quality.

4 out of 5 stars good product, but first shipment is defective one   December 11, 2007
This product is made in Philippin, not made in Japan. The first shipment I have is defective one. After I sent the defect Filter back, I got the replaced Filter without any issue.
