5 out of 5 stars Compact Flash is Fast and Reliable   January 6, 2007

The SanDisk 1GB Ultra II Compactflash is very good. I haven't had any problems with it. Note: For most casual, amatuer, and even pro-sumer photographers you won't notice any difference between an Ultra II Sandisk and regular Sandisk compact flash - except the price (regular cards are less expensive). For example, the Canon Rebel XT does not read or write the Ultra II at a much different speed than the regular Sandisk cards (several websites share the read and write speed tests of compact flash cards - there is little difference for the Rebel XT reading and writing both of these cards - they don't hit anywhere near 60x speeds!). I have a 1GB Ultra II card, two 1 GB Sandisk cards, and this past Christmas received a 2GB regular Sandisk card. I'd much rather have the 2 GB regular Sandisk card than an Ultra II so I can take twice as many images (you can get some sale prices on a 2GB that are less than a 1GB Ultra II at times!).

I get more than twice as many shots on my 2GB (I use Canon's raw mode most of the time getting 113 raw images on a 1GB Ultra II and a bit more than twice that on my 2GB regular Sandisk). To make sure I get a number of really good shots I usually 'overshoot' a game or band event and then can pick out the best shots to share with others.

I like having multiple cards so that I can rotate among the Compact flash cards. I once accidentally turned my camera off when a shot was being written to one of my Sandisk cards. It corrupted the card so I couldn't shoot any more pictures on it then - luckily I had another Sandisk card to take more pictures on (otherwise would have been a major pain!). Interestingly, it took me awhile to get software that would read the images on the corrupted card (you get such software free with an Ultra III card typically - the software was able to recover all the images on my corrupted card except the one that was partially written when I turned the camera off accidentally). Such software is GREAT to have for emergencies to avoid losing pictures.

I've been using these for some time now and have never had a single problem. I also use the 2GB and 4GB Ultra II cards. Here again I have yet to have any problems with any of these cards. I don't hesitate to recommend them.

5 out of 5 stars Works as advertised   December 28, 2006
As an analog guy in a digital age, I'm perpetually amazed at all the big stuff that these little gadgets can do. Since this item works as advertised, it's a wonderful thing to behold. I discovered later that bigger (2 and 4 gig) cards are now available for the same price or less than I paid for this one. But at the time it seemed like a bargain. No regrets about this purchase - unlike the Toshiba notebook I purchased that came from Amazon with a defective hard drive.

Cannot compair this to other cards as this is the first one i've owned. This card has performed as well as expexted and i have had no complaints.

5 out of 5 stars Perfect for digital SLR work   December 22, 2006

SanDisk has an excellent reputation for making high-quality storage memory, and this card is no exception. The card comes packaged very well in a plastic blister pack. You also get the plastic card holder, useful for organizing your memory cards in your accessory bag.

This is my third Ultra II card, all of them being 1GB in capacity. I exclusively use SanDisk products with my Canon EOS Rebel XTi. Flawless card, and with a 5-year warranty, I give this five stars.
