Fast and Simple April 25, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Great little product- accepts compact flash and SD - the two standards (so to speak) uses a standard USB cable on the back (probably same kind that came with your camera) So far it has worked flawlessly- been using it for about a month. Much better than wearing down your camera battery offloading photos and faster too. Only 4 stars because I feel it should be a little cheaper and I worry about the long term lifespan of the usb port on the back.
TIP: Always put the card back in the camera as soon as you are done downloading photos AND format the card in the camera when you put it back in, do not erase the images- much more likely to get card errors when just erase the images.
Great card reader! April 24, 2008 I bought a Sandisk Extreme IV compact flash card and none of my other card readers worked with it. This one works great! It seems to transfer files rapidly and my Sony RAW files transfer okay also.
Good bang for the buck April 19, 2008 While this may not be the absolute fastest reader on the market, it is approximately 3 times faster than my old generic USB 2.0 CF reader and at a price right around $20, it is definitely a bargain. The fact that it also includes Sandisk RescuePro is an added bonus.
poorly made connection failed in a week March 29, 2008 5 out of 7 found this review helpful
The connection junction on the back end of this thing went out on me after about a week's worth of light use. You know, one of those mass produced parts from China that gives out prematurely. I'd have to hold the USB connection a certain way as to get it to work at all. It finally just stopped working. I probably got a dud.
Does anyone make consumer electronics out of quality fasteners and components anymore? I guess not.
Fast reader, doesn't freeze Mac March 23, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I switched from PC to Mac a year ago. At the time I had a Zio 6-in-1 reader. When connected to the Mac, even with no cards inside, it would create "kernel panics" quite frequently and crash the machine. So I tried another brand, the same thing happened. For some reason the Mac could not deal with the hardware. This is card reader #3 and it finally stopped the crashing. In addition, it is a lot faster than my previous readers. Great little device!
