5 out of 5 stars ONE LENS   October 25, 2008

I have a Nikon D40X with two lenses,a 18-55 and a 55-200. I was always
switching lenses for different shots. With the 18-200 VR lens I only
have to take one lens and the sharpness and color are so much better.
For the price and quality of the lens and pictures I would recomend the
Nikon 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 AF VR to anyone starting out taking pictures.
The VR greatly improves the sharpness of the picture. The AF works very
fast and quiet. Because of the f/3.5-5.6 makes it possible to shoot in
low light and get good pictures. A great lens!

I don't know anything about this product! I bought it for a friend. Now you have my e-mail address and you abuse it real bad. I hope I don't use Amazon again. My trash can is full of Amazon junk!

5 out of 5 stars Excellent all around Lens   October 17, 2008

I was using Nikon 18-135mm with D80 for a year. I realized that if you zoom beyond 70mm and handhold the camera there will be some softness in the picture. In that case you definitely need image stabilization. I upgraded to this lens even though this lens is expensive. I am glad I did it. I am very happy with this lens. No creeping so for.
If you have DX format camera, all you need is this 18-200VR and 50mm F1.8 prime lens.

5 out of 5 stars WOW...What a lens!   October 15, 2008

This Nikon lens does it all! What a great walk-a-round lens that could easily stay on my camera always!!! I will most likely use it for just that once I get my new Nikon D90.

4 out of 5 stars Great lens with one major caveat   October 10, 2008

I recently bought this lens with high hopes. I wanted to replace my Tamron 18-200 macro lens that I've dropped twice, and which now creeps terribly when pointed downward. Imagine my horror when I discovered this much vaunted Nikon lens does the same thing, brand new! A friend contacted Nikon, who told her that "excessive" creep can be adjusted somewhat, but the lens will always creep to some extent due to the way it's made. So if you never want or need to shoot something below you, buy all means, buy this lens with confidence. Otherwise, caveat emptor!
