I received this lens open with finger prints when purchased new. Nothing on this filter or case indicates L-39 Sharp Cut. This is a standard UV filter made by Canon. Works as designed.

I think you could find a cheaper piece of glass to protect your lens and it would likely be just as good in my opinion, but the price for this Canon filter is still good. Some say the filter brand matters, I have yet to see a difference personally. Overall, great product that I highly recommend, especially if you're in the elements often.

This is the worse filter I have ever used. It is not coated with the light reflects and refracts so easily. Not suitalbe for use as anything except as a coaster.

Filter worked as protection for the lens very well with minimal interference in the image quality. Excellent for the price.

small price to pay for good protection on my 17-40 L.
Images are still sharp even with the filter on.
