4 out of 5 stars Simply Great   September 29, 2008
This Book is one of its kind and Scott Kelby is really a person of knowledge, if any one who wants to start learing photography as a hobby or profession, the knowledge shared in this book is absolutely fantastic I will be soon ordering more titles written by him soon......

4 out of 5 stars Good for beginners.   September 26, 2008
This book is great for beginners. There is a lot of helpful information, ranging from equipment to techniques for different types of photography. I think that this book is perfect for someone like me who is looking to transition from point and shoot to DSLR.

His humor is tolerable if you keep in mind that he's trying to be light hearted. Early on he states that his intent is to give advice to you as he would to a friend. I suppose his humor is intended to be endearing.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent book in a great series   September 24, 2008
Very clear and concise solutions for clearly described special and not so special situation. Warning: it made me order a lot of extra equipment in order to try out many of the same things the author describes. You will learn a lot of tricks and develop a closer personal relationship to your photographic equipment. The time I spend with mine has increased dangerously. Highly recommended.

4 out of 5 stars Photography handbook   September 20, 2008
This, and Vol. 2, are essentials for the serious student of digital photography. They are sized just right to carry in your camera bag.
