Aliens in our own oceans! Incredible book and photography November 28, 2007
I saw some of the content of this book in my Smithsonian magazine a few months ago. I bought the book as a result, and must say the pictures are amazing, incredible and in some cases, hard to really believe. If you saw the Blue Planet series (Deep Oceans) then you will appreciate the content of this book. The recent Planet Earth had some amazing video of deep ocean life, many of which are portrayed in this book. The written content is not academically stuffy, easy to read with the pictures and well laid out. This book reminds us of the great variety of life in our world yet undiscovered and can be appreciated from a nature or even philosophical perspective. This book was a great purchase. I treasure it.
Astounding photos of deep sea life. November 24, 2007
This book is amazing! The photos are of deep sea creatures that are so bizzare it is hard to believe they are real. The photos are large, most are full page so you really get a great view. This is now my favorite "under the sea" photo book. There are tons of pictures in it. It also has a nice feature that lets you quickly see at what depth each animal is found. I will 100% recommend this book. You should buy it.
Amazing pictures November 16, 2007
As promised, these pictures are amazing. This is a great coffee table book. The creatures of the abyss are so foreign looking. My book arrived with the corners banged up, but Amazon offered a discount so I was ok with it. I recommend this book as a unique coffe table book (it's not really for reading as it is mostly pictures).

What a terrific book! The essays are well-written, but sparse enough to let the real stars shine...the photos! My boys (6 & 4) love looking at all the "weird fishes". Highly recommended!
