 Panasonic rip-off that does the job August 30, 2010

I was going on a trip and wanted to find a battery for my Panasonic HDC-HS250-K Hard Drive High Definition Camcorder (Black) camcorder (the battery that came with the camcorder was a joke that lasted at best 45 minutes to an hour). After shelling out ~150 I was dismayed to find out that I also needed a pouch with the cord for another $120 (!!!) in order to use the battery. This is just pure rip-off as there is no need to design the battery in such way that it would almost but not quite fit my camcorder even though the battery was indicated as a fit. Shame on Panasonic for this!
The battery did the job fine, working 7-9 hours as advertized. No problem with the charger (somewhy it would fit the charger but not the camcorder!)
I hope someone from Panasonic reads this and takes a note.

i ran the battery straight for 4 hours, sticks out a little far from the camera but not so bad that it matters, overall good product!

The battery is a must have if you have the HMC-150.
Panasonic deserves to burn and die a horrible death for changing their classic battery (of which I already own several from older model cameras) to this new model that is entirely proprietary and requires ONLY their chargers, plugs, etc. It's highway robbery and they had to know it.
Regardless, that doesn't change the fact that the battery is awesome.
I'm an Amazon Prime member. I'm from Chicago and just bought my Panasonic camera. I forgot to order the extended battery and realized on a Friday afternoon that I needed the battery for a wedding video shoot in Wisconsin the next day. I called everywhere locally...no one had it. I called places in New York. Sold out. Some wouldn't ship it overnight for Saturday delivery.
Finally I tried to purchase with Amazon prime and get overnight shipping, but they don't allow Saturday delivery.
So I googled H AND B DIGITAL and they shipped the battery to Wisconsin, overnight. It arrived 10 minutes before I had to get to the wedding. I ran off wall power during the ceremony and used my 1 hour battery while the big battery charged. It finished charging just in time for the reception and easily lasted the whole time.

This battery is a must have for owners of the Panasonic HMC150. The battery that comes with the camera has very little battery life and is a pain in the backside when working on projects. This battery has a great battery life, but they definitely mark up the price because they know you need it. Simply put, Highly priced put needed to work.

They have been (up until I intervened) marketing this battery as a 7.2V 5800mAh Panasonic battery which according to Panasonics web site is the VW-VBG6PP-K
The two that I purchased ( 2 seperate purchases, caught it on the second one) are both 7.2V 5400mAh Panasonic battery which according to Panasonics web site is the VW-VBG6. (There are other web sites doing the same thing)
The box my second one arrived in is production labelled VW-VBG6 as shown in the product images above.
The white label on the back (probably applied later) shows the other model VW-VBG6PP-K.
The actual battery contained within is the VW-VBG6 7.2V 5400mAh battery as shown in the above battery label image above.
The actual cost of this battery concides with Panasonics pricing. I feel that the price for either battery is a bit extreme considering there are no other options. I also agree that this should be the battery included with the camera, in my case the Panasonic AG-HMC70.
Product wise, it is a quality high performance item and a must have for heavy users. Price still sucks!!!
