Product Description Beauty is in the details, and this model captures them all. The DSC-H50 is a full-featured point-and-shoot with outstanding high-power zoom capability. It includes Smile Shutter technology which captures smile the moment they happen, as well as Face Detection technology to optimize focus, exposure and color for up to eight faces. Shoot detailed images with 9.1 megapixel resolution, and bring your subjects closer with the 15x optical zoom Carl Zeiss lens. Intelligent Scene Recognition automatically selects your camera's settings based on detected lighting conditions, while Sony's double anti-blur solution helps keep your images blur-free. The DSC-H50 completes the package with a 3.0" ClearPhoto LCD Plus display that lets you easily view your images and menu options.

Easy purchase September 30, 2008 So far I love the new camera. I wish there were more instructions on how to use the settings. The camera got here quicker than estimated and it takes great pictures. This is the third item I have purchased from amazon.com and it has gone very smooth with no hassels.
Good camera, so-so battery September 27, 2008 I purchased this camera to carry in my bike bag as a lightweight alternative to my Minolta Maxuum 5D. I wanted aperture mode and a large zoom range. The zoom works very well, and the camera takes excellent photos (though I still prefer the 5D). There are three drawbacks. The first is that the battery's charge does not last long. I'd recommend purchasing a second battery so that you can switch them out and extend the time that you can work with the camera. The second is that the viewfinder is tiny--I find it much easier to steady the camera when using the view finder, rather than the LCD display. Third, it is difficult to adjust the zoom. It moves too quickly and I have difficulty landing on the framing that I prefer. Oh, and there is a fourth. If the size format of the photos is adjustable, I have not found how to do that yet. I would prefer a 4" X 6" format. All of the other settings are easy to interpret because, this camera, like my MacBook, tells me what the setting is when I turn to it. I find this feature extremely useful. I can never recall what all those little icons and setting letters mean. I'm also enjoying the movie mode, which works well. All-in-all, I'm satisfied. The life of the battery is pretty annoying though.

Short and very sweet. I'm having a lot of fun with this camera. You won't believe the quality of your night shots. Buy it! You'll see what I mean, that's if, you haven't already.

Excellent camera. We use it for sports events. The first and second shot response is terific to catch the rapid activity of soccer, lacrosse, and swimming. For the first time we are able to use the zoom while shooting movies. The stability system allows us to zoom across the field or pool and get stable movies. With the rapid continuous shooting mode we were able to get clear photos of player movement to improve strokes and dives for competition swimming. I have some trouble operating the jog control. But my wife has no problem with her smaller fingers and by using her fingernails.
