This combination of leg assembly and magnesium ball socket head is a far superior product in comparison to the traditional tripod/head combination which is constructed of aluminum alloy. Using carbon fiber and magnesium created a product that is a third less weight, yet three times stronger than a tripod constructed of aluminum. This innovative tripod with ball socket head is designed to meet the many needs of today's photographer. At a maximum operating height of 58.75 inches it's the perfect size for those standard shots, and with a minimum operating height of less than 19 inches, with standard center column, it allows for those close to ground tripod setups.The Magnesium Alloy Ball Socket Head rotates 360 degrees horizontally and 90 degrees vertically allowing unlimited viewing positions. It also features two level bubbles for precise leveling on both vertical and horizontal axis. Also included is a quick release camera mounting platform that attaches to the base of your camera and allows for quick on and off camera mounting to the tripod.Carry the unit out into the field and you'll immediately experience the weight advantage. At a combined weight of less than 5 pounds it's easy to move the tripod from location to location with very little effort.One other factor that has not been overlooked was how to make it easy to first set up the tripod, and then make quick final adjustments. The solution was to employ a quick lever leg lock system using materials that compliment the concept of strength at a lighter weight. As a result, the composite material used to construct the leg locks is an engineer grade glass reinforced nylon resulting in a strong durable locking system, while adding very little overall weight to the product.
