worst photo printer I've seen+ May 8, 2008 We purchased these printers for our program at a children's hospital in which we create photos for families. The photos take forever to print because they have to go through 3 layers of color. The ink runs out quickly and is hard to find. The photos print with little splotches of color all over. The screen does not move so it is hard to see what you are doing. Twice when I was printing, the ink film stuck to the photo and cam unraveled and we had to throw away the entire ink cartridge. The HP photo printers are much easier to use and longer lasting with better photo quality.
Important! Get the new model for the same $ December 28, 2007 Make yourself a favor and search for the Canon Compact Photo Printer Selphy CP740. It is the new model for the same price. When I realized that it was too late. The printer works fine and the quality is good although, there is not enough "ink" on the ink/paper set to print the amount of pictures that it pormises to do so. Other than that it is really cool to print pictures whenever you want.
Amazing quality but... December 21, 2007 For the money, there may not be a better 4x6 color printer than the Selphy 730; the quality is really astounding, and the per-print cost reasonable. However, the paper tray is maddeningly finicky to load "just so," a mild shiver of panic runs through me every time the tray runs out of paper, because begins another wasted half-hour of my life trying to get the paper tray to engage properly. It's a frustrating bit of bad engineering in an otherwise nicely thought-out and manufactured product. Maybe get two: one to use, and one to hurl against the wall when you have to change the paper, it's that anger-inducing. Some months and a few deep breaths later: there is a trick to loading the paper that is not well-shown in the manual: the small metal tab inside the paper-tray slot works to separate the sheets and push the paper up to engage the rollers. Make sure it's under the paper, or even between sheets, it should work better than my initial experiences suggested.
