5 out of 5 stars MC-36 Nikon Multi-Function Remote Cord   November 11, 2008
The MC-36 Multi-Function Remote Cord provides redundancies, just as it's title indicates. It is more than a remote shutter release. Since camera's such as the D300 and D700 from Nikon offer their own internal Intervalameters, this accessory is used when the photographer wants to be somewhat close to the work, but chooses not to touch the camera for releasing the shutter, or chooses to set up shots, bursts and bracketing with a remote unit. Handling the cord, at times, can be more convenient than handling the camera itself in lab, studio and field situations, when the camera has already been set up. Further, changes in the sequence and timing can be done without touching the camera unit, during the cold, night, or in situations where the camera is mounted on a low-pod or a tripod and other situations where touching the camera might interfere with measurements. Many of the functions can be handled within the camera, or with other less expensive remote releases. This is sort of a do all release, where distance from the camera for the photographer is not the major requirement or issue. Timing factors, as the manual states, are limited by the recycle times and the shutter speed and intermediate factors. Be sure to understand the unit and one's reasons for obtaining it, prior to obtaining it.

5 out of 5 stars Good to get a steady shot.   November 10, 2008
The remote shutter controller give me nice steady shot. It also equipped with an interval timer for timed photography. Good to have.

This is a great product by Nikon...however, major drawback is it's missing an on/off button. Come on Nikon...someone on the team must have figured this out

5 out of 5 stars Nikon Digital SLR Shutter Release   June 7, 2008
I bought this for doing macro setups with a Nikon D200. It has more features than I really need but it is very well made and the remote wand is easy to use without looking. Like most things Nikon, it is expensive.

3 out of 5 stars Cable needs to be just a little longer   May 13, 2008

This cable release is pretty nice, perhaps too much functionality and a little more spent than probably needed, but my new D300 required this or a wireless remote. The only real problem is the cable needs to be at least 12 to 18 inches longer. For that and the price, only 3 stars.
