Product Description Chic, simple. Canon looked to the very first ELPH for inspiration when designing the PowerShot SD1000 Digital ELPH, and came up with a quintessential iteration of the icon: slim, clean-lined and fully flat. Inside, the SD1000 Digital ELPH looks only to the future: 7.1 Megapixels, a 3x optical zoom and advanced DIGIC III ensure top-quality images, while focus is fast and sharp and red-eye is automatically corrected. The large and more colorful LCD screen now has a tough, anti-reflective coating that makes it as durable as it is beautiful. Shutter Speed - 15-1/1500 sec.; Long Shutter operates with noise reduction when manually set at 1.3-15 sec. Metering - Evaluative, Center-weighted average, Spot; Control to incorporate facial brightness in Face Detection Shooting Modes menu - Auto, Camera M, Portrait, Special Scene (Foliage, Snow, Beach, Fireworks, Aquarium, Underwater, Indoor, Kids & Pets), Night Snapshot, Color Accent, Color Swap, Digital Macro, Stitch Assist, Movie Image Files - Still Image - EXIF 2.2 JPEG / Movie - AVI (Image - Motion JPEG; Audio - WAVE (Monaural) Selectable image resolutions - Still Image - 640 x 480 (Small), 1,600 x 1,200 (Medium 3), 2,048 x 1,536 (Medium 2), 2,592 x 1,944 (Medium 1), 3,072 x 2,304 (Large), 3,072 x 1,728 (Widescreen); Movie - 640 x 480 / 320 x 240 (30 fps/15 fps) available up to 4GB, 320 x 240 (1 min. at 60 fps), 160 x 120 (3 min. at 15 fps), 640 x 480 (2 hrs. at 0.5 fps/1 fps. Great compact camera May 9, 2008 This is a great compact camera. The battery charges very fast and last a long time. With the four gb memory card and it being so compact.I am able to take it with us everywhere we go on vacation and take many many pics and mpeg videos.By the way the mpeg videos are very nice on this camera.
super great!! May 9, 2008 I've read a lot of reviews before purchasing. I was hesitated till the last min. However, I decided to go with this one becasue of the resonable price, compact size and features so I disregarded all the bad things I found from reviews. I printed my first pic and Now I am super satisfied with the quality of pic.
Great Little Camera May 9, 2008 Bought this camera for my daughter based on the reviews here at Amazon. This is a great little camera!! I hardly ever take out my bulky 3.2 MP Olympus when this thing is around. Takes great pictures and is very user friendly. As a typical guy, I was able to figure out most things without even reading the manual. I would highly recommend this camera, especially to those first time purchasers.
Watch out - warranty not worth the paper its written on May 8, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Camera was three months old when I turned it on one day and the screen no longer worked - it was mostly white with a few thin colorful lines. Sent it to Canon and they responded that the repair cost was $90 (for a $160 camera) because the there was "pressure impact" to the LCD. This camera was not dropped nor did anything fall on it (or pressure it). There were no outward signs of damage. When I called the service department, they wouldn't consider that it could have been a defective unit. There are several other customer reviews at Amazon where the same thing happened, one just two weeks after purchase. So if the unit is not defective, it is a good buy; if it is defective, Canon will be happy to have you buy the camera a 2nd time.
Great camera for the price May 8, 2008 My previous SD200 died (I use it under extreme conditions, and it lasted three years), and this model is basically the same thing with better resolution. I've been very happy with this purchase so far, and am looking forward to enjoying it for years to come.
