A great alternative to Canon's accessories March 13, 2006

The Opteka wide-angle lens is a great, low-cost alternative to Canon's similar wide-angle accessory (WC-DC52). A lower price tag, however, doesn't mean you get lower quality. The design, build, and construction of both the lens and the adapter are very good - both are made of metal, unlike the plastic adapter (LA-DC52C) that I've heard Canon wants to sell you as a separate accessory. The lens also comes with a small pouch that keeps it protected in transit AND a macro lens that improves the magnification of close-up shots. Despite the high-quality lens and adapter, I did have to perform a slight modification to it to get it to "snap" into place when attaching it to my Powershot A70. This is the only reason I didn't give the accessory five stars. All of the pictures that I have taken with the new lens thus far have come out great. If you take a lot of interior shots (without flash) or want a larger field of view when taking photos of landscapes, this is a great little addition to an already fantastic line of cameras.
