As helpful as printing the 1100 page PDF? Maybe not! September 15, 2008 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I have been a ULead video editing software user for 2 years. ULead provided a helpful how-to book written by a man who videos weddings and other events for a living. His book takes you through case histories, all the while illustrating how he used ULead to prepare the video and burn DVD's. What a great approach. Sadly, not the one taken by Ms Brenneis. This book by Ms Brenneis is, in a word, confusing (trying to be generous, here!). You find yourself being referred to chapters you haven't read yet in order to do something that should be straight forward - such as CAPTURE. This book is like the typical software manual that we have all put on the shelf and not read because it is only useful as a reference. To make the $200 that I spent on FCE 4 NOT a waste of money, I have ordered another book and will write a review of it here ASAP. Here's hoping that I can be more positive wrt that book!
Not a How to Book July 11, 2008 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
This is not a "How to" book. It explains the functions but not the procedures, It does not tie anything together and gives no examples at all on how to do anything with Final cut express, It just explains what the particular function does. The photo's are terrible. Unfortunetly it was the only book avaliable on Final Cut Express at the Big Block type bookstores. I knew from the get go I was not going to enjoy this book, The software PDF manual is way better to bad that's not in print..
excellent source April 25, 2008 6 out of 8 found this review helpful
A great source for reference. The book has a very good breakdown of the elements of fce. If you can think it,then you can look up how to do it.
