5 out of 5 stars Takes amazing pictures   November 21, 2008
I'm so pleased with my purchase. The camera does what it says. I get compliments whenever I show my pictures to people. My aunt has her own digital camera (a different make) but she'll always ask me to take pictures from my camera instead of hers when we go places. I couldn't ask for more. I'm in love with my camera.

2 out of 5 stars problem prone   November 7, 2008
This is the 2nd Canon a-series camera I've had. Both have had problems relating to the lens cover. My daughter also had problems. Although the camera takes great pictures, the lens cover problems makes this series less than desirable. On the A560, the lens cover requires a finger nail assist to open. It's annoying after a while. My next camera will not be a Canon.

5 out of 5 stars camera   October 31, 2008
well worth the money I paid for camera, If you are a casual picture taker, or use for ebay pictures, works well. Would highly recommend

3 out of 5 stars Not bad at all, but...   October 30, 2008
I've had this camera for about a year or so. It was a gift, mainly just to capture those moments in life that you just need to catch.
That's what my dad said when he gave it to me anyway.
I read all the one star reviews, and I'm happy to say that nothing like what is described in those reviews ever happened to me.
I'm not a photography student, but I know if you are seriously into photography this is not the camera for you.

Pros; durable, very nice picture quality, nice to look at, many choices of types of shooting to choose from.
Cons; horrible battery life (Recommend investing in a lot of rechargeable batteries.) and, this may just be the memory card, but sometimes it takes so long between pictures.

Overall, a very nice camera for the average picture taker.

4 out of 5 stars Very Good Images   October 3, 2008
I own this camera and also a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ18K 8.1MP Digital Camera with 18x Wide Angle MEGA Optical Image Stabilized Zoom (Black). This was my first buy as a digital camera. Honestly speaking I bought only because it was well priced and available only for a reasonable frice giving 4X optical zoom.

I really love this camera because of the image quality it produces both in day and low light situations(with flash). Video quality of this camera is also very good.
The high exposure night mode also works well though it over illuminates the parts with even a small amount of light.

Build: Camera has a good build though it wont fit into your pocket(because of the 2 AA container of the camera used to provide you grip as well)

Technology: Its a good piece of camera in this price range. It gives you excellent quality of image in day time and poor to noisy in dark without flash or less exposure time (but I guess all the camera do the samething)
Colors are slightly non natural and tend to get over exposed(mostly in high light situations or with flash). But you will definately appreciate the quality for indoors and even certain outdoor pics. Dont try to use the camera without a tripod when taking pictures with 4x or more zoom.

Value for money : Good (though I guess Nikon with LiMH batteries can give you better value)

I will recommend this camera for first time users / new users / ppl trying to learn photography and is in there first stage.
