Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
You can take close-up shots like you've never taken before. Opteka proudly presents the next generation of HD? macro lenses. It's originally designed for dentists and medical use. Unlike current single element lenses which are so common on eBay, the HD? 10x has 4 elements of high definition optical glass that provides unbelievable detail. The built-in lens on most digital cameras cannot focus on any object closer than a certain minimum distance. The Opteka close-up lens, which is simply mounted in the front of the cameras built-in lens, permits the taking of extreme close-ups in stunning detail. The easy to use solution for getting extra close. This lens will enable you to get much closer than the minimum focus of the standard camera lens - as close as 4 inches from the subject. Ideal for cataloging small items and focusing on details.

4 out of 5 stars Good alternative to Canon or Nikon close-up filters   March 18, 2008

I bought this as an alternative to the pricey two-element Canons (250D or 500D) and the discontinued Nikons (5t and 6t). I have a Rebel XT, and didn't need the adapter that this comes with, just wanted the 52mm lens itself, but that wasn't available on Amazon, so I bought this kit instead. It says it is made in Japan, and I can believe it. Nicely made, solid feel, good clean threads. The adapter looks pretty nice also.

I'm using this with a 50mm/1.8 prime lens, and initial results look much better than with a single-element filter. As is expected with such a setup, there's almost no variation available in lens to subject distance, and depth of field is very small. But this is a great way to get a huge jump in magnification and extend the capability of your camera, for not much money.

4 out of 5 stars Good lense and adaptor, worth the price   August 17, 2007

This is a good lense and you get an adaptor. I would not say it is professional quality, but it does work well. I would recommend this product.

Good value for the money! Comes with a metal adaper. Takes a 52mm filter

4 out of 5 stars Good Lens (and a small warning)   February 12, 2007

The lens does exactly what the description says it does. However, on my Canon A620 the lens adapter is positioned next to the built-in flash. So you cannot use the flash with this product. You either need a tripod or an external flash accessory, or you'll get a big round shadow on your subject. A big "plus" to buying this lens is that you also get a really nice 52mm METAL adapter that is much higher quality then the plastic model sold by Cannon. The adapter is almost worth the price alone, but you also get a solid macro lens as well. The carrying case for the lens is a nice touch to keep it scratch free when not in use. I'll add some pictures when I take some worthy of public display.
