Product Description A compact remote switch with a 2.6 feet (80 centimeter) cable to prevent camera shake for super telephoto shots, macro photography and bulb exposures. Handy for taking pictures of subjects that are difficult to approach or to minimize vibration for close-ups and time exposure. The remote switch works just like a shutter button, enabling halfway or complete pressing. It also has a shutter-release lock. With the EOS-3's Custom Function No. 12 (mirror lockup), camera shake can be further reduced. Its quick-lock plug connects to the new N-3 type remote control socket. Dimensions - 5.3 x 2.2 x 0.9 inches Weight - 8 ounces

Canon quality, as usual November 2, 2008 No surprises here, the remote works perfectly, and is an indispensable accessory for any serious photographer!
Does what it needs to do but a bit pricey October 3, 2008 After reading reviews of cheaper (less expensive) aftermarket versions of this device I decided to spend the extra money and get the Canon branded item. Works perfect but then it should for such a simple device for this much money. I took one star off for the excessive price.
Does the job September 30, 2008 I bought this for my Canon EOS 40D. The cable is a little short which is fine for me, but if you need some distance from the camera you'll need the extension cable or a wireless remote instead.
The button responds well and slides up into a detent to allow for prolonged exposures (bulb setting) without having to hold the button yourself. Unfortunately, it does this so easily I'm always getting the button stuck down without realizing it. Since I bought this for astrophotography, I just have to remember this so when I try to set up the next shot I'm not fumbling around with the camera trying to figure out why it's not working!
A must have September 17, 2008 I take this remote to every shoot. Helps to minimize movement when using slower shutter speeds, and also allows you to capture some more candid shots when your subject doesn't think you are snapping photos.
simple and easy to use September 10, 2008 i bought this because i tend to photograph physic models of buildings, i'm an architect, and with a tripod and this remote is all done. compare to an old model, the one i use with the eos500 model, the feature that you can rool the cord in the remote itself, was really cool for packing the whole equipment. but the remote was very much little too. in the end is good, can be better but that is a design issue of canon. i recommended
