Book Review January 1, 2009 Pros: Nicely written. Ample pictures and the references are excellent. Index and glossary are well compiled. Overall a great reference guide.
Cons:Some of the screen shots are too small for those of us needing glasses.
Disappointed December 31, 2008 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
I just received this book and started to go through it searching for several subjects and techniques on how to do things with Photo X2 and was disappointed to discover that there is nothing in the book regarding what I was looking for. Maybe it is there and I have to search for it but it is not in the chapter list nor in the index. Photo X2 has a tool for HDR photography, that is High Dynamic Range pictures which involves shooting a scene using 3 different camera settings then blending the 3 photos into one picture. While I am familiar with HDR I was hoping that I would find more info in this book. This lack of information makes me wonder what else is missing from this book. This is my second book on Photo X2 and it was purchased because of the attached CD-ROM which I hope will give me the information I am looking for. We shall see. Bottom line, I would not have purchased this book had I known it was lacking in being a complete how-to manual on Photo X2.
better pictures December 16, 2008 I never thought I might do it. But I did ! Slowly, slowly I begin to improve the quality of good pitures taken in bad conditiones. I think that the book is of a very high quality. It helps me (at least) a lot. I'm quite a begginer in photography and till now I've had a lot of frustrating moments when looking at my shots, but all this begins to change. Written in an easy to understand style, with good explanations and examples. I'm very happy with Mrs. Koers' book, especialy when I'm looking again at photos I wanted (before purchasing this book)to toss to the garbage can.
Corel photo shop pro x 2 very useful October 19, 2008 a well written book well explained for the use of all the different commands but i already use adobe photoshop and all these programms are similar and it helps a lot when it comes to use a different one. For a real beginner it is may be a lot harder but still useful
Lots of nice pictures September 5, 2008 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
but not much explanations. The self explanatory stuff is mentioned and pictured. The hard to explain and also hard to understand processes are dealt with in a few sentences. In one instance, the author refers to the Magnetic Lasso Tool as her favored - the software has no tool by that name. If you like pictures go for it. By doing so, you are at least buying a book printed in the USA.
