2 out of 5 stars so so book   January 4, 2009
This is a great book in material over Photoshop CS3. The reason why i give it the review i did is because for all the information it includes, it is a hard book to really reference when looking for a particular function and very over-whelming for people. Since the book is very informative, it isnt based in my view for beginners that have never touched the program. I feel that this book may frustrate some photoshop learners more than help. Now its not a bad book on the material, dont get me wrong, i just think it has been presented very badly. Why you may ask?? Well if your using this as a reference book, you really cant without trying to refer to the actual chapter compared to Photoshop CS3 on demand. Yes On Demand is split into chapters, BUT it has each page identified for you to reference the function!!! Second, for a book to follow, there is really nothing there for a beginner, because lets face it, you dont buy a book for this type of field to want to read, you want to play with the program, lol. For some of you that are wondering, i would recomend Photoshop CS3 One-on-One, it is a great book for you to learn about the program. I have read virtually ever Photoshop CS3 book, for my collection really, and those two books i feel will help you greatly in learning Photoshop CS3, Photoshop On-demand and Photoshop CS3 one-on-one.

4 out of 5 stars A Wonderful Resource!   September 30, 2008
This book was a requirement for one of my college classes, in which most of my class books are sold to make up for what I spent. But this book is definitely one I will keep!

If you want to know how to do something in Photoshop you'll find it in here. You'll find everyting in here from using Photoshop's tools (masks, filters, etc.), what file types are best suited for your project, what's the difference between raster and vector graphics and sooo much more!

I've only been able to read two or three chapters in full so far (don't say anything to my teacher! It's nearly halfway through the semester!!), but I've used this book a number of times to look up shortcuts and how to do other techniques that we haven't covered in class yet! Sometimes it takes a while to find the material among the hundreds of pages in this book (the book's thickness is listed as 2.3" on Amazon!) So this is NOT meant to be a pocket reference kind of book! But it is a wonderful book for at home reference!

4 out of 5 stars Big Book   September 27, 2008
There is alot of information in this book. You really need to spend alot of time trying to take it all in. I felt like I needed a teacher to help walk me through all of the pages. I am excited to master this program

5 out of 5 stars Another must have for graphic designers   June 17, 2008
I needed another refernce book! I don't like to ask for help because I don't learn that way... I would rather try to slove my Photoshop problems myself. This book ROCKS!! It's great for photographers and graphic designers.

4 out of 5 stars Excellent resource   May 17, 2008
As always the "Bibles" are excellent resource material.
I do however miss some more in depth "How to's" like there used to be (Photoshop 5 bible had excellent step by step additional material on the cd).
