Product Description
Literally working from head to toe, the images in this essential guide to glamour photography demonstrate how to flatter models’ assets and downplay any perceived flaws when there is no clothing to hide behind. Detailed instructions on recreating classic poses and a thorough discussion of the three main sections of the body—upper body, lower body, and backside—are coupled with ample photographic examples. Abundant illustrations reveal how to manipulate a model’s tresses, garner the best possible views of the face, and visually enhance the appearance of the breasts, arms, abdomen, hips, buttocks, thighs, calves, feet, and toes. Best-practice techniques for maximizing curves and minimizing bulk will make each subject look her personal best. Because of the intimate nature of nude and semi-nude photo shoots, suggestions for easing into the shoot while staying on task and ensuring a subject’s comfort are also discussed.

Essential reading for anyone photographing human beings December 22, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Rolando's latest how-to book unlocks many of the secrets other fine photographers are reluctant to share. Not only does he point out important rules on posing, he explains WHY those rules are important. Once you understand the principles behind posing (as well as cropping, angle, and other important elements) you can expect your work to improve dramatically, even when bending the rules for effect. This book will help you think like an artist - developing an eye for line of the body, S-curves, diagonals, negative space -all important. Rolando wisely pays attention to both the technical and human aspects to photography (your model is not a mannequin, after all) and while some may find his interpersonal tips a bit obvious, they all serve to illustrate that the devil is really in the details. Richly illustrated, as you expect from Rolando Gomez. A great addition to the "Rolando Gomez Trilogy!"
Good Resource December 18, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
When you are new to working with models, it can be difficult to understand why some poses just don't look right. You may have a beautiful model, good lighting, and the correct exposure but your photographs are still missing something. Mr. Gomez does an excellent job of explaining what poses look good and why they work. Understanding why is essential for creating your own poses and developing your own unique style. The illustrations are informative and the way he separates posing each part of body, keeps the ideas from becoming overwhelming.
From a model's perspective December 15, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
While this book has received excellent reviews already, perhaps another perspective is necessary. I've been modeling for the better part of four years now, and though at times it seems that I've seen and shot everything, if I need motivation I can now pick up Rolando's Posing Techniques. This is a "must have" for every model, no matter if you are a seasoned professional or an aspiring beginner. Not only is it a manual or textbook of sorts for glamour poses, it describes to you WHY a photographer would like you to stand a certain way. If you can understand the reasoning behind a photographer's requests, the chemistry flows much easier. Professionals can only hope their model has read this book before the shoot.
A Must-Read December 3, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Mr. Gomez's third book focuses on posing, and goes into great detail from head to toe. Like his other books, it is well-written and easy to read. And it is filled with photos that illustrate the points he makes. The book covers topics such as posing the various body parts, composition, and communication and rapport with the model. I recommend this book for both hobbyists and professionals, for both beginners and experienced photographers.
Awesome!!! Great advise and tips. December 3, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I love Rolando's work. After reading his other books I decided I need to have every one. All though, you may see some of the same tips and explanations in different books I feal they are important keys and perfect reminders. Not only do his books teach you about lighting and posing they teach you how to work and talk with your subject which I find is most important part when doing fashion and glamour photography. The wisdom that he shares I have put into good use. I have been able to put it towards my own photography business doing portrait, glamour, fashion and wedding photos.
