A lot of documentaries have annoyed me but none so much as this one. I only rented it, thankfully, but it was so wrong that I wanted to deface the DVD by writing in the word "NOT" between "this is" and "Black Metal" on the DVD.
"If it's not black metal, what is it, then?" You might ask. Well, it's mostly this very clueless chick being ditzy and asking inane questions of bands that mostly shouldn't be on this DVD. It actually starts out with a cheesy black mass reenactment thing with some nude woman and blood and skulls and a rooster presumably being sacrificed before the opening credits start and it shows the video for Celtic Frost's "A Dying God Coming into Human Flesh."
After the video it's followed by an interview with the members of Celtic Frost. I understand that they are a BM influence and can accept their being here, but I was kind of bored by the whole thing. Also, the video was stupid.
After that is a Venom interview, which is mostly Cronos rambling on and on in the way he tends to do in interviews. This woman doing the interviews is incredibly annoying. Then way too much footage of Cradle of Filth fans. Newsflash: Morbid Angel is also not BM. This DVD sucks, it's mostly bad music videos interspersed with interviews with bands that are not Black Metal.
Also, I laughed hard at the product description: "Bow to this, the blackest of all black metal DVDs!" False.

For a DVD proclaiming tons of Black Metal... this is certainly missing a major portion of it! When has Cradle of Filth ever been Black Metal? The strongest claim could be their first album, but they quickly began to deviate from that kind of a style. So how they are a force in Black Metal is well beyond me...
Morbid Angel? Wait what? Are you kidding me?? I've been listening to Black Metal for a very long time now and this band has NEVER been Black Metal. Not even "Altars of Madness" could ever be confused for a Black Metal release. I can't believe someone would produce this and try and cash in on the name of "Black Metal".
Borknagar? Maybe the first album... but with the onset of "The Olden Domain" they weren't exactly "pure" Black Metal. They delved a lot further into Viking Metal a la Enslaved. Celtic Frost? Yeah, I know they influenced Black Metal bands, but I would say their Hellhammer work has a much better case. I just can't believe someone would buy this an think they were getting "Black Metal". More like nonsense... don't support this diary of misinformation if you want to hear real Black Metal!

Cradle hasn't been black metal in a long time, and when has Morbid Angel ever been black metal? I'd avoid this if you are trying to get into black metal.
