Product Description "A whole lot of initiations happen every day. You hear about them on the news, but you dont know it was an initiation. You hear about somebody getting shot somewhere in New York, and nobody knows why that person got shot; nine times out of ten it was a gang initiation. I am a three-star general in the Bloods, so I know whats going on. The majority of crime in New York City is cause of gangs; drugs, killings, stabbings, robberies, even the bullshit car theft, the fucking pettiest crimes and misdemeanors are all cause of gangs." Kasino, from his testimonial in Its All Good A gritty, graphic, and gripping expose of the underworld and its inhabitants, Its All Good, the first monograph by Boogie, presents the predators and the prey in the drug game today. Shot in New York Citys most notorious neighborhoodsBushwick, Bedford-Stuyvesant, and QueensbridgeBoogie gained intimate access into a world few dare to venture, a world closed to outsiders, a world of crackheads, junkies, and gangsters. From the cops patrolling the project roofs to the addicts overdosing on the streets, Its All Good chronicles ghetto life in stark, heart-stopping images and intense testimonials. Boogie brings us to a place few will leave and most will stay, a place where escape is one rock, one shot, one glock away.

Changed my life October 8, 2007 This book changed my life. Simple and plain. It's what I have been looking for, for ages. Boogie is a master at what he does. The pictures are phenominal and the stories go great with the book and really set the mood and imprint the whole book into your head. As a street photographer, I look up to Boogie more than anyone. And this book has be a huge inspiration and push for me. I definetly recomend this book. Big ups to Boogie for his efforts! One.
it's all good: it's good for sure January 16, 2007 This is a great book with nice pictures telling a real story! The photographer has put together his pictures page next to page with eye for detail, contrasts and storytelling. The written stories are vivid and an amplification for the pictures. It's not printed on glossy paper and that's a pity for the quality of the pictures. (but maybe there are some limited editions printed on glossy paper...) Nevertheless great book and a must have for your collection!
Amazing body of work! November 1, 2006 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I can't think of many things scarier than confronting half cocked teenagers pointing fully cocked automatic weapons at me. Boogie did what very few photographers could do and somehow worked his way into being trusted by people who usually trust no one. In the old days a kid might know where to buy a Saturday night special for $40 but he didn't own a machine gun! I don't know how Boogie was able to walk into these projects, but I'm glad he managed to walk out.
The book was designed very well and each combination of pictures was well thought out. The book is broken into many different sections with detailed descriptions of the people who were photographed. The first half of the book focuses on many drug addicts with amazing images of their homes and family. There are great photos of the young kids who are living with parents who will probably die before they grow up.
Then the book turns to the teenage gang members, most of whom will never find a way out of the projects or the violent lives that they have been born into. This book is a look at a small group of people you'd otherwise not have the privilege of observing. Boogie has risked everything to put this book into print and hopefully will receive the recognition which he truly deserves.
Its mostly all good October 30, 2006 5 out of 7 found this review helpful
You can't help but wonder what photographer Boogie's intentions were when creating this book. He, no doubt, had fantastic access to his subjects and reached quite a level of trust with them. But after dozens of our typical "gang member posing with guns", "addicts shooting up", "gang member posing with pit bulls", "addicts smoking crack" images, I get the impression that Boogie didn't have exceedingly high expectations for "It's All good". And after making a comment about bringing a "fashion client" to one of the crack houses for a photo shoot, I really start to question the documentary integrity of the artist. I don't imagine Jim Nachtwey bringing up a soccer field in a war torn Congo village to his sports apparel client. Regardless, the photos are great and often brutal. The images of young children living with addict parents, spending their days inside vile "shooting galleries" will at least leave a felt impact on the viewer. I recommend this book for its artistic merits. If you are a Boogie fan, buy it. As a piece of documentary work, it falls short.
