Product Description
A work of humanity on a universal scale, a work of reconciliation between nature and culture, Indian Wisdom celebrates those who live in harmony with the forces of earth and sky, who aspire to nirvana-the highest level of heart-, body-, and mind-consciousness. This remarkable book by Danielle and Olivier Foellmi, authors of 15 previous books on Buddhism, presents the wise words of a great master, philosopher, or poet for every day of the year, accompanied by Olivier's beautiful, moving photographs of Indian people and places. The effect is transformative, awakening our senses and preparing our souls to receive these simple yet profound teachings.

Contemporary specialists on Indian culture have contributed to Indian Wisdom, which draws on such ancient yet timeless sources as poems by Rabindranath Tagore and Krishnamurti; the longest epic in world literature, the Mahabharata; and the most significant of the Hindu sacred writings, the Vedas. A treasure in both content and form, this inspirational book artfully conveys the essence of India. AUTHOR BIO: Danielle and Olivier Foellmi have written 15 books about Buddhism, including Abrams' Buddhist Himalayas. They are the official photographers of the Dalai Lama and recipients of the World Press award. The Foellmis divide their time between the Alps and the Himalayas.

5 out of 5 stars A beautiful treasure for your home or business!   September 29, 2008
I first saw this book at the Yoga studio where I work out, I was drawn to it by it's beautiful, unique and colorful photography and amazed by the wondrous messages of every page! I want it to buy it right away, used... right from the top of the counter but it was not for sale as it was the yoga studio's owner most precious possesion! I could hardly wait to come home and order it from Amazon.com. If you are into photography and self enlightenment this is the book for you! Totally gorgeous! a treat for the eyes and spirit!

4 out of 5 stars A visual and thought provoking delight for the soul   February 9, 2008
I first looked at this book whilst in Mumbai. The photography is wonderful and captures so many images of India that you see there every day and wish you had a camera to do so. The words are thought provoking, strong and often soothing. Coupled with such sensitivity, both the photography and "thoughts" are powerful. Not merely a coffee table book, but one to gather strength of character from.

5 out of 5 stars Beautiful Book   February 8, 2008
This book is so beautiful. Each photo evokes the colors and styles of India. I like to read the saying each morning before going to work and it sets me up for a calm peaceful day!

5 out of 5 stars Thoughtful daily gems, if you are willing to think a little.   February 16, 2007

This is a lovely book, with breathtaking photos that accompany equally powerful daily written words of "wisdom." The book is great as a gift for a special person because it is smart, priced well, and very pretty, but it functions on a more meaningful level for those ready to receive its message. Personally, I think the writings are strong selections of some of the best ideas of the humanities, and I find the book inspiring each and every day.
