This will give you a taste of Caribana.
It takes place in Toronto on the first weekend of August.

This event is spectacular!!  The people, food, costumes, the sounds - it's hard to capture the feeling and vibrancy of the day -Island music, Island food - I hope, here with these photos, at least I've communicated some of it.

The majority of picture are photographed on Fuji film using Nikon cameras.  Being out of the country for 10 years, I wasn't able to photograph Caribana.  I managed to get a few decent pictures this summer though, when I got back.  I'll take a little more time next year and shoot more.  Caribana is based on Trinidad's Carnival.  It was first started in 1967 for Canada's centennial year and  now has costumes, food, dance and music from Jamaica, Guyana, Brazil and many other cultures that you find in Toronto.  If you get a chance to come to Toronto at the beginning of August and see this fantastic festival don't pass it up.
